Some Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have my own Brick & Mortar Art Gallery?

The ability for clients to view my Large Format display pieces in person greatly increases the emotional impact of the work. Fine Art Nature and Landscape Photography galleries curated by the artist themselves tend to be highly successful if operating in the perfect location in or near National Parks or scenic artsy communities.

A physical "fixed location" storefront gallery location also includes significant operational cost. I've decided when the time and location is right, opening my very own gallery is definitely something I would enjoy! For the time being, the largest percentage of my works are sold directly through my websites and are custom made to specs, per order.

Exciting News! I am currently working on establishing my own fully mobile Art Gallery display for participating in juried Fine Art festivals, exhibits and Art shows. I view this as a wonderful opportunity to get my works in front of discriminating art lovers at events specifically designed to match an artist with potential clients. I'll be posting my itinerary when I'm ready to hit the road!

Am I represented by Dealer/Commercial Art Galleries?

There are a few unique types of Art Galleries where works are displayed, each with its own mode of operation. Vanity Galleries, Rental Galleries, Co-op Galleries (artist-run initiatives) Dealer/Commercial Art Galleries and of course photographers very own Brick & Mortar Gallery. In the optimum location, I would love my very own gallery especially being able to interact with clients and am currently looking to make that happen!

Commercial/Dealer Galleries. No, I am not represented by a Commercial Gallery. Traditionally, this has been a rite of passage for artists to be represented. Many commercial /dealer gallery owners would love to make you believe that is still the case. The facts are, traditional dealer/commercial art galleries have been closing in large numbers since 2006.

Fine Art photography and dealer galleries don't always make a good pairing. Experience has taught me Dealer art galleries are less than enthusiastic when it comes to marketing and promoting Fine Art photography. They don't understand what goes into creating a beautiful print and have generally taken up a condescending viewpoint that photography is "not a fine art".

What's so unfortunate is countless amateur "point and shoot enthusiast" and iPhone users are out taking snapshots and fancying themselves as a marketable artist! Their next step, of course, is to approach an Art Gallery and beseech them to accept their neophyte efforts. I've discussed these matters at length with countless colleagues in the Fine Art Nature photography business. Lastly, dealer galleries do not keep up with the modern day print medium technologies that serious nature & landscape photographers use for creating amazing display pieces.

Are my works available as prints that are pre-framed and matted?

As my art career has progressed, I've found myself navigating away from older and tired ways of presenting fine art prints and embracing the emergence of modern-day print technologies and mounting techniques. The outmoded method of "hinge mounting" a  photographic print to foam core board with artist tape and placing it behind a costly cardboard matt and thick heavy glass is simply archaic. Quality issues are numerous, including outgassing and fogging behind the glass, crooked displays thanks to wire hangers and of course when the prints begin to curl or buckle which is quite noticeable depending on the lighting conditions. Honestly, everything about the old methods just took so much away from the aesthetics.

Rather than try to fit in with the countless masses of photographers out there that only know of outdated print media, my choice is to present my works on various unique and progressive print formats such as my AlumaLuxe Plaqs, AlumaLuxe Plaq mounted to a Bottom Plaq, and HD Acrylic face mounted floats. They are all much higher quality products and they also provide viewable depth since the print on AlumaPlaq is slightly raised off the bottom plaq. They all arrive ready to hang, or if you prefer you can order them specific to fit inside a frame without the need for glass coverings or mat boards!

Are my works available as Canvas Prints or Canvas Giclee' Wraps?  After an extensive search, I have finally located a professional lab in the USA that specializes entirely on Canvas Prints! There are some really poor quality vendors out there that simply do not provide the high quality that professional artist demand for their clientele. It's been a struggle but I now once again am offering Canvas as an option and this is a very economical option to procure your art prints!  Note that I ship my Canvas prints rolled in a tube and NOT pre-framed with stretcher bars!  Framed Canvas wraps are extremely difficult to ship due to their fragile nature, so we leave you the option to bring the canvas to your local frame shop for stretcher bar installation.

Can my Large Format Fine Art pieces be externally framed?

Absolutely. Both Acrylic and AlumaLuxe Plaqs look wonderful with or without frames. Read my suggestions here in Framing Acrylic Prints   Both mediums offers tremendous advantages over traditional paper photo prints.

What is the Best way to Illuminate your new HD Acrylic, Alumaluxe or Chromaluxe pieces in my home for that Gallery Effect?

This is a GREAT question I am asked by my clients and yes, properly illuminating any of my large format pieces in your home makes an amazing difference. The LexJet Sunset pearl/metallic behind my Acrylic glass pieces and the Moab Slickrock pearl/metallic used for my Alumaluxe Plaqs have phenomenal vivid colors and details that really come to life when combined with the best lighting methods.

If you can install simple track lighting or an Art light fixture this is always the best start. If you have a track that accepts low voltage 2-pin socket bulbs you can purchase SoLux Bulbs which may be the ultimate solution. Otherwise, traditional screw-in track bulbs or even ceiling mounted recessed lights will accept LED bulbs.  With LED's, the artwork can truly be seen and appreciated as it was intended.

Thom Schoeller's personal Satisfaction guarantee for his Luxe print products

I am absolutely committed to providing you a wonderful personal service experience and very high-quality Fine Art print products. I have shipped art prints to over a thousand happy clients throughout the USA, Canada, Australia and Europe and of course, I look forward to having many more join them. That being said, you can rest assured I will treat you right and will work to ensure your satisfaction.

Let's begin with my 1-Year Workmanship & Quality Guarantee for Premium Luxe pieces. I stand behind my workmanship and quality. This applies exclusively to my full line of Premium Luxe HD Acrylic Gallery mounted prints, ChromaLuxe MetalPrint photo panels, and AlumaLuxe Plaqs. These are the ultimate in fine art photographic display options, period. They are archival quality and I work exclusively with the best professional print labs in the USA to handcraft each custom order.

I recommend using the hanging systems offered on my website (French Cleats or the Corner Post) and not to alter the hanging method to a wire-hanger style. If any of my pieces are altered or modified in any manner and fall from your wall that voids the 1-year guarantee.

Poster Proof Option - I think this is a really cool opportunity for any prospective client intrigued about investing in any of my large format premium Fine Art pieces. Purchase a poster proof (print only) to experience the artwork at home as a sample proof. The poster proofs are a mere 50% the value of my Fine Art - Print Only option. They look amazing, but since they are not technically museum grade-archival quality the investment is minimal. If you decide to move forward with owning any Premium Luxe HD Acrylic or ChromaLuxe MetalPrint within 7 days, I will credit the full cost of the poster proof and is now yours to keep, for free. Oh, and by the way, you don't have to order the same print as the sample.

How to Order a Poster Proof? - You need to call me by phone or use the Contact form in the Menu above to email me. I will send you an invoice by email to purchase your poster proof.

Shipping - Handling Damage Claims  No worries! If your package is badly damaged (smashed, crushed etc) in transit DO NOT accept it. Otherwise, carefully inspect your packaging prior to accepting for any visible signs of wear on the shipping container no matter how minor and simply make a note with the carrier so they can document it.

Carrier Requirements: Any damage to my artwork that occurs during shipment is eligible for a replacement, however, be sure to note due to shipping carrier requirements this must be reported back to me within 36 hours of arrival. The shipping agent notifies me the exact moment the package arrives at your destination. Provide me clear/sharp photographic images showing the handling damage to the artwork after you notify me.  Once approved, a replacement will be placed into production and shipped out to you.

Print Quality and Defects  Once again, no worries! Contact me within (5 days) of receiving your order. It is very important you carefully inspect your piece in good light when it arrives. If the issue is quality or defect related, I'll provide a replacement. I require good clear and sharp photos of the defect to approve a claim. Once approved, a replacement goes into production and shipped right out.

Photographic paper prints (Print Only) are not returnable after you have them mounted or framed.

Consultation by phone Before Purchasing Offer Policy:  Just for calling me directly for a free consultation, I will deduct your phone order by 15%.

I can help you procure the correct size for your application, the proper lighting, explain the multiple hanging options, distinct characteristics of each print media etc. to provide you with an extra measure of confidence. I wish to prevent mistakes in the ordering and decision process and provide you with clear concise information to help you see your vision and dream come through.

Best Display Lighting:  This is part of my free consultation policy. It's always said, the most beautiful art pieces displayed in less than ideal lighting always look bad. As luminous as my HD Luxe pieces are, they still require proper light to look their most amazing. We cannot guarantee your indoor lighting quality, do not judge the detail of the piece until you are able to view it in proper lighting or briefly outdoors in bright light.

Visual Assistance Tools are available for you to use on my website to view each artwork larger and examine intimate details as if you were viewing a large print in person up close. I suggest you view on a large calibrated desktop monitor or similar laptop or iPad device to examine details of any print you would like to order. Use the "toggle tool" to view the entire artwork larger or the "magnifying glass tool" to view small areas in an extremely high resolution that offers you a virtual look at a 20" wide print. You can also use the magnifying glass tool over the entire image without any time limitations. Relax and explore.

General Returns Policy: If you procure any Premium large format luxury Fine Art piece and you decide you are not happy for reasons outside of and beyond the "Quality & Workmanship" guarantee (stated above) I do have a 15-day return policy.

If you decide within 15 days of owning any piece you are unhappy, and for reasons beyond a defect, damaged during shipment, quality or appearance issues, and you did not alter or modify the piece in any manner I will accept the return under the following terms. Keep in mind, there may be an instance where this may not apply, but that is taken by individual case.

  • The patron is responsible for the shipping cost and handling fees for returned merchandise.
  • Returned merchandise must be repackaged in the same shipping carton they arrived in. These cartons are specifically designed for safe artwork transport.
  • Returned merchandise should be insured for its full value
  • Remember, ordering the "incorrect size" off my website for your application is not the fault of the merchant. Every piece that ships are custom made to your ordered specifications.
